Summer Term 2019
Our topic is ONCE UPON A TIME.
Week beginning 23rd April 2019
Welcome to our final chapter of the 'Reception' school year!
During this short half term, we will be basing our learning on Traditional Stories and Fairy Tales. We will begin this week with stories which feature castles. On Tuesday we will talk about St. George's Day and find out more about St. George. We will make flags, design and build castles and dress up as knights.
We will be going outside for PE, and will be using a range of equipment to practise throwing and catching.
This week, in Maths, we will be learning about halving and doubling. In addition to daily counting forward and back from any given number between 0-20.
Our phonics groups will continue daily, which involves: games, reading and writing. Some groups have finished learning the Set 2 phonemes (ay, ee, igh, ow, ou, oo, oo, air, ir, or, and oy).
All children have now been to the Computing room to learn how to log on and access Purple Mash. They can now use the classroom computer and practise the skills taught. Please see your yellow communication book for login details (home access).
We will continue to embed the school values into our daily life in Chestnut class; growing and learning together.
We have introduced 'Growth Mindset' to the children and we are encouraging them to see how their words can help them to change how they think. Dojo points are linked to Growth Mindset.
