  • There is a Phonics workshop on 16th October at 2.15pm in Chestnut class.

Autumn Term 2019

Useful information about the Reception year can be found here...

Week beginning 7th October 2019

This week we will continue our work on 'The Little Red Hen'. We will think of rhyming words for all of the characters and we will sequence the story.

In Maths, will be learning how to write numbers 0-9 and will count groups of conkers, saying which group has more or less.

In Phonics, we are learning the next 5 phonemes (sounds) e, l, h, r and j. We will practise putting these and our other 15 phonemes together to make words and will have a go at blending and reading the words. We will also learn how to write them, in a multi-sensory way - using paint, chalk, sand, glitter, shaving foam, pens etc. We will also work on hearing the initial sounds of words.

We will share stories, songs and play games.

We will embed the school values into our daily life in Chestnut class; growing and learning together.

We will introduce 'Growth Mindset' to the children soon and encourage them to see how their words can help them to change how they think. Dojo points are linked to Growth Mindset.
