This week we are going to link our science and our art.  You will need:

  • Some paper (at least 2 pieces)
  • Water based paints (you could water down paints or use food colouring in a little water if you need to improvise)
  • Paintbrush
  • Wax crayons

Part 1 - use the water colour paints to create a picture of your choice on one piece of paper. What do you notice about the paint - is it absorbed by the paper or is the paper waterproof and so the water based paint sit on top?

Part 2 - draw a picture with the wax crayons. Then use the water based paint to paint over the top (perhaps you could draw an underwater scene and then use paint to colour the sea). What do you notice this time?
