On behalf of our Governors, I would like to wish you a very warm welcome to St Nicolas’ CE Combined School.
As Governors, we have an important role to play in monitoring the safety, welfare and education of ALL of the pupils in our care. To ensure this, we work as a collective with staff, parents and our children in an open and caring environment where everyone’s contribution is valued.
We are justifiably proud of the achievements of our children across the curriculum and of the high standards that they achieve in both learning and behaviour. Our children are taught to respect both their peers and elders and leave us prepared and well equipped to meet the challenge of secondary school.
As Governors, we ensure that the School is conducive to learning and set ambitious but realistic targets for pupil attainment. It is our role to support and encourage the Headteacher and all staff to ensure that each individual pupil has the opportunity to make and achieve progress.
We are also involved in various aspects of the school’s day to day operation including:
· Staff appointments
· Pupil welfare and behaviour
· Buildings and maintenance
· Our wider community
Please take a moment to browse the School website and the Governors page where you will see more general information about the School.
I would like to thank both staff and parents for making our School the success that it is through their encouragement and support. For our children, this support nurtures key social and creative skills, particularly in these early years and it helps to build self-esteem and confidence. Our parents have an invaluable role in this; I would encourage you to get involved in School life and your child’s learning as much as you are able.
Should you wish to meet me to discuss any aspect of School life, or are interested in becoming a governor, please make contact with the School office in the first instance. I look forward to meeting you!
