St Nicolas Church

Church / Faith

We are a Church of England aided school, supported by Oxford Diocese.  We welcome families of all faiths.

St Nicolas' Church
Our school has strong links with St Nicolas’ Church. We are very fortunate to have the church just across the green from our school and often have services there for key events such as Christmas, Easter, Harvest and St Nicolas Day as well as for occasional assemblies and music concerts.

If you'd like more information on St Nicolas' Church, you can visit their website below.

St Nicolas' School

Our Christian Values are Friendship/Love, Thankfulness, Peace, Respect, Honesty & Courage.

(For a full description of our values please see the article below)

Open the Book

Open the Book is an organisation which re-tells Bible stories during school assemblies.  Usually teams are made up from local churches but here at St Nic's we have our own parent-led team.

We aim to bring Bible stories to life on a Thursday morning with a bit of humour, music and props!  We have been running Open the Book assemblies at St Nicolas' for over four years now and hope that the children have been sharing what they've seen.  If you are interested in contributing to the team (acting, narrating or making props) please contact the school office.

We love to get the children involved in our Open the Book Assemblies.

Prayer Group
We have an active prayer group at St Nicolas' led by one of the parents at school.  You are very welcome to join us on Thursday mornings from approx 8.15-8.30.  Meet in the foyer at 8.15.  Contact the school office if you'd like more information.

If you have any prayer requests either regarding school life or from a personal point of view, please post them into the box in the foyer.  Feel free to do this anonymously if you wish.  Requests are dealt with on a confidential basis.  The prayer team believe this is an important way to support our community. The children also have a prayer box in the front entrance for their intentions.

In addition, we support a prayer lunchtime every half term where the school music room / the field becomes a prayer room for children to write or draw prayers.

Our School Prayer
Thankyou God for our school and for freedom to learn.
Help us make it a place of happiness, thankfulness and peace;
A place where friendships are made and respect is shown to all;
A place where we can have courage to do our best;
A place where we can be honest with each other and with ourselves;
And a place where we all work together to be the best that we can.
Amen

The Lords Prayer
Our Father who art in Heaven
Hallowed be thy Name
Thy Kingdon come
Thy will be done in earth
As it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive them that trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom
The power and the glory
For ever and ever
Amen
