River Dart 2025
Monday night 10.30pm
Mrs Flynn has not been able to access the internet tonight but sends the following message:
The children have had a fantastic first day full of adventures. They got wonderfully wet in the lake and, after a warm shower and delicious dinner, enjoyed a night hike under the stars. They are all tucked up in bed, ready for a good night's sleep and tomorrow's adventures.
Sleep well!

What a busy day we have had. The children experienced caving and high ropes and faced the challenges of both with a can do attitude. They are such a lovely group of children to be with; we are enjoying getting to know them out of school and watching them thrive.

What a busy day! Year 6 spent the day hiking through the beautiful hills and woodlands of Dartmoor. After a picnic lunch on top of Dartmoor, we enjoyed our next challenge: rock climbing. The children all pushed themselves beyond their comfort zone to climb as high as they could. Our evening was spent den building, with campfire entertainment of very loud action songs that your children will look forward to sharing with you. Enjoy! They are all settled in bed after their exciting day.
Thursday 9th October 10:25pm
Year 6 had another action packed, fantastic day. The sun shone and the sky was blue, which was great as we enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, crate building and the zip wire. The St Nicolas' school crate stacking record was broken, with children building and standing on a tower of 18 crates. The evening activity was 'Dart About' and everyone went to bed feeling exhausted after the busy day.
Tomorrow morning, after our final king size breakfast and packing, we will be raft building and racing around the lake. Everyone is looking forward to seeing their family, although expectations for puddings is now extremely high. On a positive note, the children can now all make their own bed, so parental expectations can also be raised!
Thank you for letting us share the Y6 residential with your children - they have been an absolute delight.
