Welcome to Year 2 with Mrs Anderson and Mrs Adlam!
This term we will be beginning a new topic for history called ‘Adventurers and Explorers, in which we will learn all about some significant individuals including: Neil Armstrong, Gertrude Bell and Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We will find out why they are famous, and how they have made a difference to our lives even today. After half term, we will move onto geography and will be learning about our local area. This will include looking at maps and a field study of Taplow.
Break times play an important part in the school day; the children benefit from the chance to stretch their legs and get out in the fresh air, even when there are light rain showers. Having a named, plain coat in school allows the children to make the most of this opportunity, as we will aim to play outside even on days when the weather catches us out.
Planners will be checked every Monday for reading. If you write a note in the planner, please tell your child so that it can be read that day by a member of staff. Planners and reading books should be brought into school every day.
Please note that all essential stationery and equipment for lessons will be provided. Children won’t need to bring in their own pencil cases or stationery.
Our class prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for our friends and family.
Thank you for our school and our teachers who help us.
Thank you for this amazing world.
Help us to be kind and respectful to each other and our planet.
Amen
